Ferrari Racing Days at Laguna Seca: Corse Clienti returns to Monterey (w/VIDEO)

The last time Ferrari's exclusive Corse Clienti program made an appearance at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was back in 2008. At the time, the FXX was the only race car in the Corse Clienti stable, but the 599XX joined the party for the program's return to Monterey this year.
A trio of FXXs and no less than seven 599XXs-almost a quarter of the total produced by Ferrari -took to the track last weekend, their high-revving 6.0L V12s echoing throughout the surrounding hills.

FIA agrees to Monaco tunnel DRS ban
Formula 1 drivers will be banned from using the DRS in the tunnel at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix after the FIA reacted to drivers' concerns on Monday, AUTOSPORT can reveal. On the back of continued fears from drivers that it could be too dangerous to use the DRS through the tunnel in practice and qualifying, FIA race director Charlie Whiting wrote to the Grand Prix Drivers' Association members on Monday to tell them he agreed with their stance. Button frustrated by opening lap

Basso eager for IRC return
Double European Rally Champion Giandomenico Basso has talked of his pleasure at driving for the Proton team ahead of his return to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on next week's Yalta Rally. The 37-year-old Italian had been facing a season on the sidelines before he returned to the IRC - a series he won in 2006 - with the Malaysian manufacturer earlier this year. General Motors has announced that it will add two shifts and 2,500 jobs (both hourly and salaried) at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Currently, the facility builds the Chevrolet Volt and its European cousin, the Opel Ampera, but GM is expanding this plant's capability to handle the production of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, as well as the next-generation Impala sedan.
According to GM, most of the 2,500 new jobs will be filled by laid-off UAW members.
This latest move means that GM has invested $190 million in the Detroit-Hamtramck facility since April 2010. Last year, The General announced a $121M investment to support next-generation Malibu production, and now, an additional $69 million is being pumped into the plant for tooling and equipment that will be used on the future Impala.
GM's efforts at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly follow the investments that the company has recently made in other states, including the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as well as facilities in Toledo, Ohio; Flint and Bay City, Michigan. By now, you've probably committed every detail of the new generation of police cruisers to memory. With so many potential successors to the Ford Crown Victoria throne, it pays to know exactly which models to look out for on the road, especially if you dabble in extra-legal speeds. The guys from Translogic recently got the chance to get up close and personal with the new Chevrolet Caprice PPV courtesy of a tour by the Los Angeles Police Department. Along with getting the full scoop on what the vehicle has to offer in terms of officer and criminal comfort, we're also introduced to some of the killer tech on board the new cruiser.
Officers are now treated to an easy-to-navigate touch screen that handles everything from HVAC controls to advanced crime-fighting tech. License-plate recognition software combines two front-mounted cameras with a criminal database to alert officers of potentially threatening drivers and an additional super-sensitive infrared camera can even detect a perpetrator's footsteps at night. Go go gadget awesome.
