Pedrosa content with physical state

Dani Pedrosa declared himself satisfied with his physical condition in Estoril practice after his recent surgery, but felt he had not managed enough running to be confident of his fitness going into the Portuguese Grand Prix weekend. Formula Drift champ Vaughn Gittin Jr. unveiled his 1969 RTR-X Mustang at SEMA last year, and since then we've been hoping to see the car in action. We're sure Vaughn's been itching to get behind the wheel, as well, and he finally got the chance yesterday when he took the RTR-X out to Willow Springs Raceway for its very first test session.

A 1969 Mustang isn't the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to drifting, but the RTR-X looked like a natural at getting sideways. Granted, this pony car has very little in common with your everyday 1969 Mustang. Under the hood is a tuned version of the Boss 302's 5.0-liter V8, and the suspension looks more like something out of Formula 1 than from a vintage muscle car. Ray Alfalla collected his second NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory of the season last night, holding-off Josh Parker over several late-race restarts at Richmond International Raceway. Sebastian Vettel says that Red Bull Racing securing the future of key team personnel like Adrian Newey was vital for him electing to remain at the outfit for the next few years. Report: GM CEO Dan Akerson earned $2.5 million in 2010

Despite only holding the reins of General Motors for the last four months of 2010, company CEO Dan Akerson received $2.5 million in compensation last year. Akerson took over the post from Ed Whitacre on Sept. 1, after Whitacre stepped down. According to The Detroit News, Akerson was paid $566,667 in salary from GM and a further $1.76 million in stock awards. Not bad for four months' work.

Akerson's earnings are subject to review by the federal government, since they still own a 32 percent share of the company. For 2011, Akerson won't get a raise, which means he'll earn $9 million this year, the same amount Ed Whitacre would have been paid had he made it an entire year.

Akerson was at the helm for GM's IPO in November, and helped the company close out 2010 posting its biggest profit in ten years.

Reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson took his first victory of 2011 in an ultra-tight finish at Talladega. Eight cars crossed the line as one at the chequered flag as the four Hendrick cars, and duos from Richard Childress Racing and Roush Fenway Racing formed a drafting pack through the last lap. Different approach pays off for Mercedes

Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has revealed that a pre-event rethink about the approach his team makes to grand prix weekends played a key part in delivering its best form of the season so far in the Chinese Grand Prix. After struggles in Australia and Malaysia, Nico Rosberg led in Shanghai and looked set for a podium finish before being forced to back off to conserve fuel - after a miscalculation about how much would be needed to get him through the race.
